Warning- Don't get your hopes up or tell your kids about ever getting to spend the night in a caboose. I made that mistake & I was just told they are booked for 2 years. I didn't lower my star rating for this review because I'm sure it's a great experience, but you will NOT get to reserve on the train. I was told in 2017 they had over 200 people on a waiting list for 2018 & I was welcome to call back in 2018 to PUT MY NAME ON A WAITING LIST FOR 2019. Not 2018, but 2019. Obviously it's not the fault of the rail line, so no points off. I just wanted to warn other parents that the chances of you ever actually getting in that train are slim. I thought calling 10 months in advance would do the trick, but I should have called 5 years ago apparently. PS- I was told that there was a chance I could get in for 2018 if I booked 4 nights. That left a bad taste in my mouth. If they allowed more people to book single nights or 2 nights they would not have that waiting list.
